FAQ:
How does it work?
No sign ups necessary! DC Dark Week is open to submissions from 5th May to 11th May 2024, for any content that falls within its prompts.
What counts as content?
Content can be in the form of completed fic or artwork. Participants can submit standalone pieces for any prompts that strike their fancy, or submit ongoing works (such as a chapter-per-day fic, or a page-per-day comic). There are no specific word limits for fics, but we do ask that they be works with some substance, not drafts. Similarly, we don’t require art to include backgrounds, etc., but we do ask that any artworks are final pieces and not sketches.
If you have any concerns about your content for this week, please don’t hesitate to Ask the Mods!
What are the prompts?
You can view the prompts here!
What shipping is accepted?
DC Dark Week is an open-ship/ship-friendly event. Any and all relationships are accepted, and participants are expected to respect others’ shipping interests, even if they do not share those ships themselves.
Do I have to make content for each and every prompt?
Not at all! You should only create content for the prompts that appeal to you. Due to the nature of DC Dark Week, it’s highly likely that at least one of the prompts will not be one you wish to create for. No participants are obligated to create content for every day, and the Mods encourage participants to be selective about the prompts they are willing to create for.
Similarly, participants are not required to create content for each prompt. If you would like to merge several days of prompts into one piece, feel free to do so! If you would like to create more than one piece for each day, you are also welcome to create as much content as you wish.
Where can I find all this content?
Once the Week begins, Mods will be reblogging all pieces tagged with “dcdarkweek” or that mention @dcdarkweek to Tumblr and Twitter. This AO3 Collection will also be open to submissions.
Due to the nature of these prompts, the Mods will be tagging each reblog with the prompt tag on the blog, so that users can blacklist any content they do not wish to see. Mods will not be tagging for all content warnings - only for the daily prompts. Audiences should check any warning tags provided, and participants should take care to tag their content appropriately.
