Summary
“It’s okay,” Armand whispers. “Baba’s here, Baba would never let anything happen to you.”
It’s a lie. The two children in his arms are vampires, after all.
“Baba,” Benji whimpers. Sybelle says nothing at all.
“I’m here.” He cards through Benji’s curls, tucking his chin over the boy’s head. “I’m here. Whatever happens, I’m here.”
The carriage rattles. He’s fairly sure they’re in some kind of shipping container, if the corrugated walls are anything to go by. Perhaps on the back of a truck, or loaded onto a train.
It does not sway like a ship. This, at least, is a comfort.

Summary
The grey-haired vampire flies through the air and tackles Armand to the ground.
“You broke the rules,” Daniel says. “We said ‘no vamp speed’.”
Armand bats his eyelashes. “I’m sorry,” he whines in a way he knows is less than convincing. “I was just so frightened.”
Daniel scoffs. “You know, for an ex-theatre director, you’re a pretty lousy actor.”
In which Daniel is a Big Bad Vampire who chases, catches and has his way with Armand the Real Human Boy.

Summary
It hurts sometimes to be the recipient of Daniel’s trust. Armand doesn’t deserve it: the window he has into the most intimate parts of Daniel’s soul. And now Daniel is inviting him in, opening the shutters wide and asking Armand to look at the most vulnerable and breakable parts of him. Of course Armand will do it, for Daniel and for himself; for the part of him that wants his hands as deep inside his boy as possible, rummaging around in his guts.
