When the apartment finally quieted down again, after Aiki had been dropped off, Bakugo found himself standing in the kitchen staring at the spot where she had hugged Kirishima goodbye. His chest ached in a way he didn’t know how to name.
He felt like the picture wasn’t missing a piece.
He felt like he’d found it.
Aiki wasn’t just smiling because she was happy to have someone new around. She was smiling like she’d been given something she didn’t know she was missing.
And damn it, so was he.

Kirishima sounded too excited over the phone. "I was hoping that you’d be able to pick up something from that restaurant we like on the way back?” Katsuki groaned at the idea. “You know the one– Ugh, what’s the name?”
“I know. The Onigiri place. No fucking way.” Katsuki turned to the sidewalk in front of him as he spoke his next words. “We don’t need to get takeout again, Ei. Be fucking happy that I want to cook for yo–.” When he looked up, he saw a row of reporters less than a foot away from him with microphones in front of his face. They had definitely heard that. Katsuki wished that he was dead. He wished the reporters were dead, too.
