Fembaru Fics

Since there is a 'Fembaru - Character' tag on AO3 but apparently it links directly into 'Natsuki Subaru' like it was a pseudonym, I thought it might be for the best if there was a collection into which anyone can post their Fembaru related fics.

Works on the front are randomized.

About Fembaru Fics (Fembaru)

Rules:

Only rule, is that any fic posted to this collection should revolve around a female version of Natsuki Subaru, though within that, I don't see much point in limiting things too much, so here is a couple of loose things that I think define what a 'Natsuki Subaru' is and isn't:
First what Natsuki Subaru ISN'T defined by:
1) Name. If you feel like giving a female Subaru a different name, maybe even toss away the family name, that's fine.
2) Being from 2012. While it's probably for the best to keep Fembaru in the early 21st century time period, maybe you've got a good story idea for a female Subaru from the time of the big Japanese market crash of the 80s/90s. Maybe even World War 2 or the Meiji Restoration. Go crazy.
3) Exact talents. It hardly matters much if every version of Subaru is really good at sewing. While I would recommend against making any Subaru too talent in things that would 'too useful' in her predicament, such as being a Kendo champion who actually gets a second glance from Wilhelm for more than her eyes; if you feel like telling a story like that, that's fine too. It might still very well be a version of Natsuki Subaru.

On the things that DO define Natsuki Subaru (i.e.: Probably should be retained, but even these aren't hard rules):
1) Bit of a social outcast. There's no need for them to be ridiculously NEET-ish, but at least make them eccentric a little bit. This is less to be whacky, and more because finding it hard to fit in but at the same time being used to that enough already to act 'natural' in his eccentricity, is not just a defining characteristic of the canon Natsuki Subaru, but also a fantastic trait for an Isekai protagonist to posess since they won't end up feeling like they are fitting in too easy in another world, nor will the opposite hold where it takes them too long to fit in.
2) Is from Earth. I don't think time or even exact place of origin matters in Natsuki Subaru being Natsuki Subaru, it is crucial that Subaru is from the same place as the reader in the grand scheme of things. The same place Hoshin and Al are from too. If you want to write a story where Fembaru is from Tatooine, and got isekai'd when she was out picking up some power converters, that's fine, but that's less a story about female Subaru, and more a story about an Subaru from another world.
3) The most Subaru of Subaru qualities: Way out of their depth. Ignore my comments about not making Subaru strong. The big reason why I said I don't recommend it, is because the real trick isn't to make Subaru weak. The trick is to make any strengths Subaru might have be irrelevant to giving an initial solution to his/her problems. Whatever you write, make sure that Fembaru needs to change her thinking and hopefully become a marginally better and/or smarter person with each challenge.
