"Fred Weasley, you're asking me to be your fake girlfriend."
"Spot on."
He was crazy. His plan was crazy. And yet, I hesitated. Why? I really can't say. Maybe it was the way Fred's eyes glinted in the half-dark of the garden, hinting at possibility and promising me something I didn't quite understand. Maybe I was tired of being careful.

trigger warning: this fanfiction deals heavily in depression, suicide, self-harm, mental breakdowns, violence and other things along that vein. please don't read if that triggers you!
note: this fic is not intended to romanticise any of the above or make them appear selfish, because they shouldn't be romanticised and they aren't selfish - it's only intention is to show how the Jasmine incident may have affected Fred, from Fred's perspective.

Summary
He pulled her inside and closed the door with a soft click.
Total darkness. Gwen held her breath. The closeness was overwhelming.
She could smell his cloak—smoke, grass, a faint hint of mint.
His breath was shallow, right near her face. The space was so tight they could hardly move.
She heard him chuckle quietly.
She stomped on his foot."Pull yourself together, Weasley."
"Aye aye," he murmured, adopting a soldier's serious face.
For a moment, they stood in charged silence. Not awkward—just humming with unsaid things.
Gwen could hear the groan of old wood, distant water dripping through pipes, Filch's footsteps far off... and Fred's breathing.
"I think he's gone," Fred whispered. "But maybe we should stay a bit longer... just to be sure." He raised his brows.
"Fred." Gwen pulled a face.
He chuckled again.
She could feel her own heartbeat—and his, hammering beneath her fingers resting on his chest.
