FAQ:
You can check our FAQ in our Carrd for more general questions! What do you mean when you say hard limits?
A hard limit in BDSM is something that cannot be done under any circumstances; breaking the limit is just cause to end a whole relationship. Due to the sensitive nature of this event, We’re using the term “hard limit” for any ship, kink, troupe, theme, dynamic, etc. that is a big no-no for you.Tag Set Nomanitions
What is a tag set? What are tag nominations?
A tag set is a list of tags we are putting together to understand better all the relationships and problematic content people are interested in requesting. You will be able to nominate tags to be included in the exchange tag set, which you will be able to choose from during sign-ups. This is makes matching easier, as the system will be able to use these tags in the process.
What is the purpose of having a tag set for the exchange?
Without a tag set, you will only be able to choose canonical tags, aka tags that already exist. Meaning if the relationship or kink/troupe/theme hasn’t been tagged, you won’t be able to include it in your request. Moreover, since this exchange doesn’t center around one ship, the tag list will help us narrow the pool to ships of interest only and let people know what type of problematic content will be included in the exchange. What do you mean by don’t tag your hard limits?
The reason we’re asking you not to bother tagging it is that there is no specific section for you to choose said limits from a list. You will be listing them in the description section of your request so that mods can make sure everyone is paired of properly before finalizing matches.
Tag Set guide
- You must be logged on to your Ao3 account to be able to nominate tags.
- You will only be nominating tags for ships and additional tags- the limit for both is 20 tags. Please nominate all of your preferences if possible.
- All tags must be unique, so you can't nominate a tag that has been approved for the list. Please check the approved tag list. It will be updated as frequently as possible.
- some tags are already in the set based on the interest form.
- We customized tags for people who have open-ended ships—Ex: No ship preferences, rare pairs only, mainstream pairs, any Hinata-ship. If you have an open-ended preference, nominate it, and we will make the association!
- Please tag ships with a slash (/), not a (&), as the latter indicates platonic/gen relationships, which don’t need to be nominated.
- If you have a preference for top & bottom or dom & sub, please nominate it. Some of us like seeing a specific character getting wrecked, some of us wanna see that character doing the wrecking, while others don’t care as long as someone is getting wrecked. All are valid, so we don’t want to assume.
- Please don’t nominate tags just for the heck of it. By that, I mean tags like “Oikawa Tooru is a little shit” don’t need to be on the list. The tag list to give everyone an idea of what problematic content we’re working with.
- Try to nominate tags that not only have your gift request preferences but also what your willing to create for someone else’s gift.
- Don’t nominate tags of your hard limits. You will be able to list those when you sign up.
Sign-ups
How do Sign-ups work?
There are two parts of the sign-up form: the request part and the offer part.
In the request section you include
- If you want your gift to be a fanfic or fanart
- What characters, relationships, rating, categories, additional tags, and archive warnings you want. There will be a tag list for relationships and additional tags you can choose from.
- Your Hard limits and DNW (Do not want) in the description section
In the offer section you include
- If you want to create a fanfic or a fanart
- Which characters, relationships, rating, categories, additional tags, and archive warnings are you comfortable creating. There will be a tag list for relationships and additional tags you can choose from.
- Your Hard limits and DNW (Do not want) in the description section
Matching
How does matching work?
Matching will be done by the Ao3 system based largely on relationships and additional tags you filled out.
Due to this event's sensitive nature, mods will be double-checking every match to make sure of hard limits.
Pinch Hitter
What is a Pinch Hitter?
Pinch Hitters are volunteers willing to pinch at the last minute if a participant drops. They are super important because we want to make sure everyone receives a gift. So, Pinch Hitters come in and save the day!
Signing up to be a pinch hitter doesn't commit you to anything; you will be able to review the request(s) and decide if you are willing to take it on!
Treats
What are Treats?
Treats are extra pieces you can create on top of your gift for your assigned recipient. The request list will be made public, so you can pick whatever catches your eye.
Treats don't have to meet the word count/art requirement since they are completely voluntary. However, they are not exempt from not respecting the hard limits and set boundaries.
Do I have to sign up to make a treat?
Nope! Anyone eligible for the event can make treats! The request list will be made public, so if you want to join but are too nervous about signing up- treats are a great way to join! PLEASE be careful how you post them tho!!! Treats must remain anonymous until reveal as well!
How do treats work?
- When you go to post your work on Ao3, scroll down to the Associations section.
- In the Post to collections/Challenges field type in "HQ Problematic Exchange" and select the exchange from the dropdown list. Make sure to select it; otherwise, it might now work.
- In the Gift this work tofield, type in the name of the person you are treating and select them from the dropdown list. Ensure you are typing and selecting the right username; otherwise, the treat will go to someone else.
Deadline for Treats
You can submit treats anytime before Nov 4th and will remain anonymous until Creator Reveals on Nov 5. We will post all treats on Nov 4th!
Defaulting Assignments
What if I have to drop out or can't turn in my gift by the deadline?
Things happen, and we can't control that. If you decided to drop out of the exchange or you cannot finish the assignments, please let the mods know as soon as possible! We may are more than willing to help you if you still want to participate if you need an extension. You can also still submit a treat if you do have to drop out. Should you need to drop out, please let us know ASAP, so we can find a pinch hitter for your recipient!
