Summary
The thing is, despite what others may think and believe and assume, Tony is unhappy.
He has a lovely husband, yes, who spends all of his waking hours at the office instead of at home with his family. He has two children who look at him like he can fix everything in their world, yet they feel Steve's absence more and more each day, and Tony doesn't know how to fix that. And then, Tony meets Natasha Romanoff, one of Steve's colleagues, and he starts to realise exactly why his husband prefers not to come home anymore.
Despite this, Tony loves Steve, loves him enough that he's willing to ignore any indiscretions, if it means that his family will stay together and whole.
But when Tony's first love, James, also known as the most terrifyingly competent mass murderer in the world, the Winter Soldier, shows up after almost a decade, asking for his help to fight a terrorist organisation that Tony knows all too well, suddenly, keeping his family together and whole isn't as easy as he thought it would be, when it was just him who had to suffer.
Now, he's torn between the man that left but came back to him and the man who loves him but maybe not enough.

It isn’t until Tony watches Steve lean into the punch that he thinks oh, this is going to be a problem.
Steve’s taking hits on purpose in the field, so Tony suggests a safer option. It's simple: Tony smacks Steve around, Steve gets the pain fix he’s looking for, everyone leaves happy. Things do not stay simple.
The one with repressed masochist Steve and sadist Tony and everyone getting off on pain a whole bunch.

Summary
Bucky kneels next to Tony’s desk chair, leaning into his leg as Tony runs his fingers through his long hair and wonders if maybe he should get it cut. Tony likes it long but it should probably be trimmed anyways, if Bucky is fine with that. Most of the time he doesn’t say much but Tony figures that’s normal after all he’s been through.

Wanda watches without much pity as the building burns in front of her. This isn’t the last of the people responsible for her family's deaths either, but she suspects Stark will react the same way the others did because they’re all cowards in the end.

Bucky eyes himself and the mirror and wonders, once again, how he got himself talked into this. And why he is still going after common sense set in afterwards. The answer to both questions is easy. Natasha. It's always Natasha these days. And he used to think Steve was bad. (The world is in trouble when those two finally meet.) That isn't the point though. The point is that he is about to go on a date. A blind date. A blind date with a potential dom. Which is sure to end in disaster, no matter what he has been reassured otherwise. Because every date and every attempt since he has been discharged has ended in a disaster of one form or another, so he's not exactly reaching here. Why will this Tony be any different?
