Summary
Connor watches the city slide past the car window, Midtown lights stretching into gold and white streaks across the glass. His phone buzzes endlessly in his lap—congrats texts, missed calls, group chats exploding—but he doesn’t open any of them. He still feels like he’s hovering a few inches outside his body, the echo of laughter and applause from the studio clinging to him. When the car pulls up outside the after-party, the bass is already vibrating through the sidewalk. Camera flashes spark the moment he steps out. A few fans are gathered near the barricade, phones raised, calling his name. Connor gives them a quick wave, half a smile, before slipping inside. The heat hits him first. Then the noise. Music, voices, glasses clinking somewhere behind the bar.
Then he spots Hudson. Leaning against the bar, drink in hand. Whiskey sour, Connor guesses. Black jacket. Black shirt. Hair styled like he stepped out of a photoshoot, a few loose strands falling onto his forehead. Small earrings catching the low bar lights every time he moves.
Or the after party after the SNL party.

Summary
Finally, Ilya exhaled hard, shoulders slumping just slightly as he turned around. “I don’t like sharing you.”
“I’m not shared,” Shane said softly. “You’re my boyfriend, he is my bestfriend.”
Ilya turned back, eyes still stormy. “I see the way he looks at you. Because he looks at you the same way I look at you.”
Shane’s mouth fell open, half grinning with amusement. Did Ilya really think Hayden was in love with him?
“Ilya, Hayden has a wife and four kids, what are you talking abo-”
“How could he not?!” Ilya cut him off. “You are perfect. Perfect son, perfect hockey player, perfect boyfriend, perfect friend!” He spits out, using air quotations to exaggerate the friend part.
-----
OR: Ilya Rozanov is extremely jealous of Hayden Pike. Shane ends up in a situation needing help, and both Hayden and Ilya show up at the same time... chaos ensues as Hayden connects the dots.

Summary
And maybe Connor knows what Hudson really writes in his journal, because after a beat, he nudges Hudson’s face with his nose, caresses his jaw. And right there, against his flustered rabbit pulse, he whispers, “I missed you.”
A bullet straight to his chest. Cuts the skin, avoids the ribs, and aims at the heart, right where the loneliness had crept in and thickened its walls.
“I know.” Hudson’s mouth is suddenly dry. He has to say it, because Connor looks so vulnerable like this, face split open like a bone poking through skin and muscle, and Hudson feels it like he’s staring right back at his own pain. “I missed you too, Con Con.”

Summary
Hudson and Connor are best friends. Both are in committed relationships with other people, and they’re about to begin filming the second season of Heated Rivalry.
But a couple’s bracelet—seemingly harmless—becomes the breaking point that exposes buried tensions, jealousy, and poorly defined boundaries. Between arguments and mistakes that hurt more than either of them expects, they’re forced to face a truth they’ve been avoiding for far too long: what they feel no longer fits within the word “friendship.”
“But I know,” François continued, his voice a tone deeper than usual, “that if I grab that fucking phone right now, I’ll find missed calls, typed and deleted messages, Facetime attempts… all directed at Hudson.”
Connor clenched his jaw.
“That’s not true.”
“Isn’t it?” François looked at him with a mix of sadness and exhaustion. “Because I did worry about you. I did think about calling you. I did lie awake with the phone in my hand.”
The silence became unbearable.
“And yet,” he added, “you didn’t call me.”
