Fans speculated long before Tite Kubo revealed the fact he was the captain of the tenth division that he was the captain. Stories written prior to this speculated who his second happened to be, among other things.

Is there anything I'm not allowed to ship? No Ichigo/Orihime (this doesn't mean no Renji/Ruki), no Kaien/Rukia, no Toshiro/Momo, nothing that breaks Byakuya/Hisana up, and nothing that pairs a character that would qualify for a Shinigami Kids Society with one that wouldn't, please.
