Jace had figured that they’d make it back to the castle at the very least. He knew that the minute his mother or Daemon saw their cut lips and bandaged hands, they’d know what they did and any chance of pretending would be gone. But he hadn’t expected to be interrupted during the ceremony. No not during. After. That’s what Jace thought as he was forcefully pulled away from Baela. It can’t be undone. He’s too late.
