Summary
Ekko and Jinx come from two different worlds. Jinx is a cheerleader and Ekko is president of his school's physics club. He's been crushing on Jinx since the start of high school, but he knows theres no chance they would work; that is until she ends up stumbling into his club one day. The two might figure out they have more in common than they think, if only they can overcome the surrounding obstacles.

Ch - 6
“It’s all good I can just listen for this meeting.” Jinx says in an understanding tone that makes Ekko’s heart melt just a little bit more than it already has.
Ekko takes in a shaky breath before he delves into the ideas on the page. Although Jinx’s presence is daunting, it’s easy to get into the rhythm of discussion. He’s always carried a passion for the club, and he’s been, embarrassingly enough, pretty darn excited to share his proposition with the other club members all summer. As he sorts out the details, the other members hum and nod in confirmation.
“Testing different materials for the absorption of heat as a means of solar energy. That’s really cool.” Jinx reflects on the idea out loud with a certain fondness. She doesn’t quite make eye contact with anyone and doesn’t even seem to realize her words were verbalized.
And for probably the fourth time that meeting Ekko’s heart does a funny little flip and sends sparks throughout his body. Jinx thought his idea was good. (Really cool to be more specific).
“Sounds good little man.” Mylo says with a rare genuine cadence to his voice.
The bell signaling the end of lunch rings, thus also signifying a conclusion of the club meeting. Before Ekko can get any closing words in, the other three longstanding club members quickly gather their belongings. At the blink of an eye, they’re out of the room. The abrupt exit confuses Ekko until he realizes the purpose for their lousy manners. He feels his nerves come back as he realizes Jinx is still in the room. In fact, it’s just Jinx and him. No one else.
Assholes.
Ekko attempts to busy himself with gathering his belongings. It’s not that he doesn’t want to acknowledge Jinx’s presence, but rather he doesn’t know how. Every single phrase that comes to mind sounds lame and empty. His mind desperately searches for the right words, but naturally Jinx beats him to it.
“I apologize I didn’t really get to introduce myself.” She raises her hand towards him, a clear invitation to shake it. “I’m Jinx.” Ekko nervously grasps the body part and gives a clumsy shake.
“I know.”
Jinx raises an eyebrow at his words. Ekko knocks out of his imagination and suddenly realizes what he’s just said.
“I mean you’re pretty well known on the cheerleading team and what not.” Ekko responds, nerves ever so present in his delivery. “Uh, I’m Ekko.”
“I know.” She responds back playfully.
She…knows?
Sure, he knows from Scar that she’s sort of aware of who he is, but that doesn’t dampen the surprise any less. Hearing it from his friend is one thing. Hearing it from Jinx is in a whole other ballpark.

Maybe Jinx isn’t the curse, Zaun and Piltover are.

She wanted to say goodbye to Ekko. Properly. She wasn’t sure if she’d get the chance to, but she’d try.
See, so many people thought Jinx was just a psychopath who wanted destruction. Even Vi at some point. Ekko too.
’You’re still a kid, Jinx,’ Ekko has said. ‘We’re both just kids. We never grew up, not really.’
Ekko was better than her.
He lost all his family too. Some to Jinx, and yet he still saved her.
She wishes she’d have apologized to Caitlyn. I didn’t know didn’t really cut it. She’d been picturing what Isha would’ve felt if she’d died instead, when she had said that.
She doesn’t know if her past self would’ve still killed half the council if she knew Caitlyn’s mother was in there too. Probably. She was worse before Isha. Maybe she really was a monster. Silco was gone, maybe she’d want revenge by taking away someone else’s family too.
She used to think Vi replaced her with that enforcer. She didn’t start seeing Caitlyn as a person, just like everyone else and maybe even better because Vi chose her, until it was too late.
Maybe in another universe they could’ve been a family. One where Jinx was forgivable and Vi wasn’t hellbent on using her fists.
Here’s another thing; Jinx has always existed in Powder. In the little voices in her back of her head, the ways in which nothing she built ever worked, in which everything she touched she cursed.
Or maybe she was just a kid who made a lot of mistakes, and mistakes in a war weren’t affordable.
Getting rid of Powder, or of Jinx, wasn’t the answer. It wasn’t even an option. She’ll always be both.
[Isha would’ve loved Powder, but she loved Jinx too. And both of them were incomparable.]
