“I’ll scent your clothes,” Kaeya blurts. Diluc stares up at him. “You said he wants you out of the knights, and the city, but no one will touch you if you smell like m–like an alpha.”
“Will that work?”
Truly, it isn’t a bad idea. Something dark and hungry gnaws at the pit of Kaeya’s gut at the idea of Diluc smelling of him, of someone, anyone, everyone thinking Diluc belongs to him.
“It’s worth a try."

It's unfair how soothing Diluc can be when Kaeya lets his walls down and allows him in, when the cloudiness of rut taints his worries to crystal clarity, when all he has is him, his mate, and his nestless bed – that's the only time he understands.
