Titleception is an event where each person participating is randomly assigned 3-4 titles and they create a work based on at least one of those titles. This can be a fic, art, cosplay, whatever you’re inspired to create!

Titles will be collected through submissions as well as random generators in order to provide a wide variety of titles.

If you are so inspired, you are more than welcome to create for as many titles as you’d like.

Fics can be submitted to the Titleception AO3 collection, which will be coming soon, you may submit to us here or also post on your own blog and tag us. Other works (art,etc) can also be submitted here, or post on your own blog and tag us.

The official posting window is from March 1 - March 31, however, you are more than welcome to submit outside of that window!

In April, we’ll have a master list of all the works created for this event!
How it works

We collect a bunch of titles and put them in a title master list

Each person will get assigned 3-4 random titles from which to choose from
You create a Kylux work (fic, art, etc) with one of those titles, adjacent pairings are encouraged, and side ships are acceptable so long as Kylux (or adjacent) is the main pairing
You are free to do more than one of the titles if you choose
Submit your work to the AO3 collection or to the blog or post on your own blog and let us know about it so we can reblog!
At the end, we’ll reveal all the possible titles and so anyone interested can write fics or create art for them!

* If you made a fanwork for each title and would like additional titles please contact us and we will happily assign you some more.

Dates

Participation Sign ups start on Dec 1st and end Feb 15th
Title Submissions Start Dec 1st and end Dec 31st (if you have anything you want to put forward for a title please be sure to send it to us during this time)
We will be assigning titles Jan 4th through Jan 6th (you may start work on your fic/art as soon as you have your titles)
Submission of completed works start March 1st and run through March 31st (any works finished earlier than this may be posted on Tumblr at anytime but Ao3 reveals will not start until March 1st so please remember to let us know if you finish early so we can work something out with you)
Works finished after March 31st can and will still be posted on the Titleception blog, though anything posted/submitted after the Master Post is finished will not be added to it for the event
Master Post of all completed works for the event will go up on April 14th
A Master Post of all the titles collected over the event will go up on April 6th so anyone may continue creating fic or art outside of the event if they wish
If anyone has any questions or concerns do not hesitate to reach out to one of the mods Kittens or Magic, or in our ask box. We will respond as quickly as we are able to. And remember to sign up here by Feb 15th.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the “what do you prefer” question mean on the sign up?

This question is asking if you want SFW or NSFW titles. If you select SFW, you will not receive any titles that could be considered NSFW. If you choose the NSFW option, we’ll send you a random set of titles, which may include both SFW and NSFW.

Can I get a mix of SFW, NSFW, and Chuck Tingle titles?

Of course! If you’ve asked this question or something similar, you’ve already been marked down to get a combination. The NSFW option will likely give you a mixture since the titles are assigned randomly. How many NSFW titles you get totally depends on the number of NSFW titles that are submitted to us.

Can a SFW title be interpreted in a NSFW way?

Absolutely! You are free to interpret titles in which ever way you choose! You can even make one of the Chuck Tingle titles SFW if you want.

Is there a word count minimum or maximum?

Nope! Any size fics are welcome as part of this event. And for art, any skill level, medium, or style is good too!

Is there a way to express preference for genre?

Unfortunately not. To keep things as random as possible, we’re not separating titles out by genre. However, you are free to interpret things however you like. And if you’re absolutely not inspired by any of the titles you get, we can get you a new set!

Will the titles be exclusive to each person or will multiple people work on the same title?

It is possible that some people will be sent duplicate titles, although the likelihood of this depends on the total number of titles that are submitted to us. But it is possible that even if multiple people get the same title, only one will choose to work on it.

Are cosplays for just one part of the ship okay?

Sure! As long as it’s Kylo, Hux, or an adjacent character, that’s perfectly fine!
