What is a fanfiction exchange and how do I participate?

A fanfiction exchange is exactly what it sounds like! Writers in the Discord community will fill out the form by selecting "Sigh-Up" on this page, they will then be paired up with another writer in the community. At that time, they will have roughly one month to complete a fanfiction of any size in accordance with their recipients preferences.

Can I work as part of a team?

Yes. If you desire to work as a team, simply fill out the exchange form together. Your team will be assigned a single person to write for, and a single person will be assigned to write one fanfiction for you, so be sure to coordinate on your answers concerning what you would like to read.

Can I write a multi-chaptered fanfiction?

Yes. The entirety of the fanfiction does not have to be done by the end of the month. You only need to have the first chapter done and posted by the end of the exchange, after which you can finish the fanfiction at your leisure.

What do I do if I find I can no longer participate?

If during the course of the exchange you find you are no longer able to participate, you need to contact HBIC Sibby via Discord as soon as possible. Repeated withdrawal from the exchange for whatever reason will result in the inability to participate. Withdrawal before the Matching stage will not be counted against you.

What can I do if I want to help people who have lost their partner?

Are you good at whipping up one-shots on short notice? Want to help those whose partner may have dropped out for various reasons? If someone drops out of the exchange for any reasons, an alert will be posted in the relevant exchange channel on the Discord asking for any author willing to take their place.

That's great! I'm always searching for inspiration for future months. Feel free to contact HBIC Sibby with any suggestions. These can be single words, a list, a song, even pictures!

1. Do not talk to your recipient about your fanfiction until the fanfiction itself has been posted.
2. You must fill out the form with as much information as possible. There is no such thing as too much information in this case.
3. If there is a theme for the exchange, you must adhere to the theme.
4. Additionally, you must do your best to adhere to the parameters laid out by your recipient.
5. Failure to complete your side of the exchange will result in the inability to participate in the next exchange. Three such instances will result in a total ban from all future exchanges.
6. Smut and explicit material is not allowed as a request or offer.
