He didn’t even realise he’d nearly died until he was on the floor and Gale was standing above him. He saw a flash of his quarterstaff, it cracked down on the spider creature that had sprung on him from nowhere, then he struck again, shoving forward. It fell from the cliff with a high screeching cut short by a solid thump as it hit the ground below. Astarion swallowed, a mix of shock, and… arousal.
