Sometimes it felt as though Charles wasn’t seen as a mutant. It seemed they only acknowledged his abilities when they were needed or bothersome to the others. He’s been told he doesn’t understand what it’s like to hide a part of yourself that others fear or hate. He’s been told that he’s invasive when he reads their surface thoughts, when he responds to thoughts he assumed they said out loud with how loudly and pointedly they were thinking.

Erik is a lawyer fighting for mutant rights, a single dad to three children who he loves, and is ever exhausted by, and absolutely not someone who has time for a relationship. Other than the bitter divorce he's still picking like a scab.
