Have you ever seen a fanwork featuring a character that wasn’t in the original canon, but whom you really love? Multifandom Original Character Celebration Day is for them - the characters who never get featured in any fandom event, but whom you love anyway.

When is it?

Saturday November 30, 2019.

Where?

The AO3 collection is open and set on unrevealed. You may add works to the collection at any time, but reveals will only occur on Nov 30.

We will also be tracking and reblogging from the tag #ocday2019 on Tumblr until Fri 6 Dec for time zone purposes.

We accept the following as OCs:

1) A character you completely made up, with no basis in canon (e.g. [Bleach] Shihouin Yoruichi’s younger sister, [Harry Potter] a new Order of the Phoenix member, etc.).

2) A character that by right must exist somewhere in canon, but has no predetermined personality or appearance or both (e.g. [Naruto] Namikaze Minato’s parents, [Harry Potter] James Potter’s parents, etc.).

3) A minor character that has so little screen time that the author has free reign to come up with backstory or appearance or personality (e.g. [Bleach] Harugasaki Seizo, [Harry Potter] Dorcas Meadowes, [MCU] the SHIELD agent that refuses to give into HYDRA’s commands at gunpoint, etc.).

Who is eligible?

We understand that OCs are the work of the authors. Therefore, if you intend to create a fanwork based on an OC from an existing fanwork, please seek first permission from the original creator.

What do you accept for the event?

We accept all completed fanworks of any length/duration/details, be they fic, art, music, video, meta, rec, etc.

We do not accept fanworks featuring OCs from an existing fanwork but whose original creator has not given permission for their OC to be used in this event. We also do not accept OOC or AU versions of canon characters as “OCs”.
