Summary
Even with this legacy Izuku built, with the job he had now and the relationship he and Katsuki rebuilt nothing seems enough. He is left longing, reaching out still for something he doesn't know. A guilt lies heavy in his heart for the words, the gratefulness he felt for his childhood friend for all he's done that remained unspoken.
Meanwhile, for Katsuki, no matter how far he runs and goes and chases after not only his career path but Izuku himself, he never feels enough. Having not been acknowledged for his sacrifices and brushing his own suffocating panic at the memories of his youth aside, he works on keeping Izuku by his side.
Both feel as long as they can be heroes together there's no use in talking anymore about that faithful day, that long war, those unspoken conversations. As long as they have each other, this friendship, they'd be fine.
But neither of them were happy and it turns out that thing about bottling things up? It truly does fall apart in the end; either little by little or all at once.
Long story short: Izuku Midoriya finally realizes Katsuki Bakugou was always at the heart of it all in his life. Always.
