This is a closed Secret Santa for the group. Group members are expected to know what is appropriate.

How do I sign up?
Have an Ao3 account, look to your left (while sign ups are open) and click the sign-up form. Fill that out and you're good to go.

And after I sign up?
Wait for signups to close, then you'll be assigned someone to write a fic for. You write a fic that is over 800 words, submit it before the deadline, and have a happy recipient at the end of the exchange. You only need to fulfill one of their requests.

What can I request?
Any series, any characters you want. Any rating is ok, it can be shippy or not. We do recommend you request something a partner will be willing to fill though.

There's no tag for the ship I want!
It's okay, tag the characters you can and put in the description the ship, we'll be reading them anyway and your partner can fill in the ship when they post the fic.

Can I request a crossover?
Yes, of course, if your silly concept is a crack Xover ship or based around them meeting another team, we need Xover fics. Feel free to request them but know it might be a little harder to get you a partner who can fulfill them.

How is matching going to work
We will primarily match by seasons, then where possible by ship and characters (so if someone has said they don't like A/B we will try to avoid putting them in a situation where they're forced to write A/B) so that we can try to give people things they'll enjoy writing.

I want to write more than one fic
Go for it! Go wild! Write to your hearts content but make SURE you fill one of your partner's prompts.

What do I offer to write?
Only offer series you feel you can write for. If you are sitting there going "well I've seen MMPR but I wouldn't really feel comfortable writing any of the characters"; don't offer to write it. Offer some things you'd actually like to write for. Of course, if you would like to write for something, don't worry too much about if you'll be good enough, just put out there and let yourself try.

I don't think I'm going to meet the deadline
Let us know ahead of time! If you're realising you have no way to meet this deadline let us know, and tell us as soon as you can so we can get a pinchhitter in.

I don't like who I was assigned
Tell us beforehand via the discord, but in the case that you didn't do that and get assigned someone you don't like...

Just write the fic. Get it over with. Don't be malicious, don't be mean, just write them a nice fic and get it over with then you never have to deal with it again. We're not accepting clearly malicious fics and you need to complete something, that's the point of the exchange. We know you might have personal beef with someone but our recommendation is check the prompts before the picking, if you don't want someone make sure you're not offering to fill for that series or leave us a note. We can try our best to oblige but if we're short on people you might need to bite the bullet on it. Of course we don't want to pair people if there's a chance they're not going to hold up their end of the exchange, so we are going to try and work with you here.

Can I be a pinchhitter?
Of course you can! Just contact us saying you'd like to.

General

1. Malicious fics and failure to fulfill without making a mod aware will get you banned from all future fic exchanges. We will not tolerate such behaviour.
2. Comment on your gift fic, while we wont ban you if you don't, it is polite to at least say thank you.
3. Bananas don't count as a snack on this field trip.
4. If you have any questions or concerns, contact a mod through discord.
5. If you have any issue with a recipient or writer, speak to us first, do not cause confrontations.

Sign-Ups and Assignments

1. You'll get 2-6 prompt slots, only put one fandom in each slot unless specifically you want a crossover fic.
2. It's best to clearly state what you don't want so that your partner knows. If you don't want certain content, tell them in the prompt. It also helps to tell them if that is what you want.
3. Your fic has to be over 800 words, go as far over that as you want but make sure it's over 800.
4. Fics must be handed in before the due date.
5. You must meet at least one of the prompts assigned to you and respect what your recipient does want.
6. Don't tell the recipient you got them, it's a surprise!
7. Don't post the fic publicly anywhere else before the reveals, it ruins the surprise.
