Katniss comes to help me, her footsteps deathly quiet. Or maybe my grief is too loud. I catch a glimpse of her guilt-stricken face—at having left me alone to face the ruins of my family, at her own portion of blame for her orphaned lover, I don't know—before I collapse in her arms, clinging onto her for dear life as always. She grips me just as fiercely and we hold each other to the point of pain.
In which Peeta holds on to Katniss at the end of the Quarter Quell, and they make it through the war together.
