AU CATEGORIES
A list of keywords, story elements, details, descriptions, and sub AUs to help explain and clarify the AU categories as well as help writers to classify their fic ideas.

1. Fantasy AU — elves, dragons, knights, dwarves, castles, druids, mages, kingdoms, high fantasy, magic
2. Supernatural AU — vampire, werewolf, witches, warlocks, angels, demons; can be period or modern setting (not to be confused with Supernatural TV series)
3. Period AU — anything historical/time period/era: Korean (Joseon, Goryeo, Three Kingdoms, etc); non-Korean (Regency, Medieval (no magic), Victorian, Golden Age of Piracy)
4. Roommates AU — self-explanatory; huge emphasis on the roommates aspect of the story
5. Sugar Daddy AU — self-explanatory
6. Office AU — corporate, business, office, all your work-related shenanigans including work-from-home
7. Coffee Shop AU — everyone’s favorite! self-explanatory
8. Pornstar AU — pornstars, camstars (camboys), strippers, hookers/rentboys and other sex/sexy professions

NOTE: This is just a guide, and you are free to write an AU that it is not in the list.

FIRST OF ALL, WHAT IS THE PARALLEL?
The Parallel is an AU (alternate universe) fic fest held by Nu’fics. This particular fest is where we give AUs per day for two weeks so the writers can write fics with the theme according to those AUs.

ARE THERE ANY REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN?
All NU’EST writers can join the fic fest! It doesn't matter if you write member-centric, ships, or OT5, because we accept any kind of fics! :)

CAN WE WRITE FOR CROSS-GROUP PAIRINGS?
Since this fic fest is for NU'EST's, this will be about NU’EST only. We're sorry to say that we will not accept cross-group pairings! (ex: JT, Onghwang, Kang Daddies, etc) However, they can still be platonic pairings and those non-NU’EST characters can still be extra characters in your fics.

WHAT IF I WANT TO JOIN, BUT THE SIGN-UP HAS ALREADY CLOSED?
The official date for sign-up will be May 3 - Aug 8, so you’re pretty much allowed to sign-up anytime! You can join as long as you commit!

WHAT IF I THINK I CAN'T FINISH THE FIC?
That would be alright, no pressure! We usually have special offers also, but that’s for you to find out when the time comes ;)

1. All NU’EST writers are invited to join! Whichever character(s)/ship(s) you write, you are very very welcome! Let’s water the NU’EST tag, AU style!

2. Put tags on fics accordingly! If it has devastating trigger warnings, warn everyone! If it has tooth-rotting fluff, warn everyone! Blare the sirens! Let people know!

3. No word count restrictions, because we want everyone to enjoy even if it's with a short drabble or a really long fic.

4. The fics can be either one-shot or chaptered. Incomplete fics can be posted!

5. You’re allowed to write for more than just one AU or one day. You’re even allowed to mix the AUs, no matter if the AUs are on the same day or it’s a cross-day.

6. This is strictly an alternate universe fic fest only. You can’t write canonverse NU'EST. You can write them as idols, but not as a five member boy group NU'EST. You can write them as NU'EST, a university band just trying to scrape by, but not NU'EST the idols.

7. When signing up, you will be asked the following:
a. E-mail address (for formal correspondence)
b. AO3 handle (so we’ll know who you are)
c. Twitter handle (for when we can’t reach you through e-mail)
d. The AUs you want to write (up to 3 AUs)
e. The ship/character you want to write for!
