Archive of Our Own

Tim Curry gave us an extraordinary collection of characters across nearly six decades of acting: heroes and villains, monsters and comedians, princes and butlers, narrators and madmen, animated characters and video game villains. Throughout the years he gave us both unforgettable icons and characters you might have completely forgotten were played by him.

This prompt meme is a celebration of all of them.

How to participate:

To leave a prompt: Submit one or more fanfiction prompts featuring a Tim Curry character. You can make your prompt as specific or as open-ended as you like.

To fill a prompt: Browse the prompts, find one that catches your interest, and claim it. You don't need to have submitted a prompt yourself in order to write a fill.

To cross over: Absolutely! If you want to throw a Tim Curry character into another fandom, go for it. A crossover, fusion, or AU involving one of his characters is completely welcome.

This is simply a communal collection of ideas for people who want to play with these characters and celebrate the work of an actor who left an enormous mark on popular culture. Enjoy yourself and support the works you find.

So dig through the filmography. Remember the characters you loved. Rediscover the ones you'd forgotten. Find the wonderfully obscure role you didn't even realize was Tim Curry.

Leave a prompt. Claim a prompt. Write something strange. Have fun - and above all: raise a glass to Tim Curry, and all the characters he gave us throughout his career.

No work is too small, no work is too big. Share any and all fanworks involving Tim Curry's characters!

The idea is simple: write a fanfiction prompt involving any character played by Tim Curry. If you see a prompt that inspires you, claim it and write the fic!

Your prompt can be for any fandom, any character, any relationship or genfic scenario, and any genre. It can be something elaborate and plot-heavy, a tiny character moment, a crossover, an AU, a missing scene, a ridiculous crack premise, or simply a character and a situation you'd love to see someone explore. Anything!

The only requirement is that at least one character in the fic must have been played by Tim Curry.

That means you can prompt for Frank-N-Furter, Wadsworth, Pennywise, the Lord of Darkness, Rooster, Long John Silver, Nigel Thornberry, Gabriel Knight, Arl Howe, Doviculus, Darth Sidious, Auntie Whispers, Professor Calamitous, or any of the many, many other characters Curry brought to life.

And don't feel obligated to stick to the obvious choices! If Tim Curry played them, they're fair game.

If you've recently posted a fic dedicated to Tim Curry's passing, feel free to add it to this collection even if it was written before it opened.
