FAQ:
Okay, I'm going to go down the AO3 page and explain how to post a 'legal' story.
Step Number One: Turn off the 'hit-man'.
When you're logged in, go to "My Preferences" on the far left side of the screen.
Go to "Statistics" and check "Don't publicly display hits on my works."
*You* can still see your stats, so if you're like me and you need the little lift of "Ooh, my story hit XXX hits!", that's okay, you'll know your numbers. What we don't want is everyone else comparing "this story has 2 hits, this one has 2342930423 hits." Again, you can change this setting once you're done in the contest.Feel free to use your drawer icon as the icon for your WIAD pseud or you main pseud. If you want yours before I put up the first rack of drawers next weekend, give me a holler.
Step Number Two: Post your story.
Anything in Red with a "*" is mandatory by the archive. So accurately fill in:

Archive Warnings
FandomNotes on these: Archive Warnings: "No warnings" is the 4th choice. IMHO its' a dumb place for it, but there it is is. So, if there's a need for another warning, check that/those, but if not, you must check "No warnings apply". For our purposes please do not use "Choose not to warn". We're asking people to read everything unless they have a huge issue with something like non-con, so we're not going to surprise anyone, okay?
Fandom: Obviously, you want to type 'Torchwood'. The archive will then do this thing where it adds "Doctor Who and Related Fandoms" as if it were a second fandom. Don't panic, it has to do with the metatagging structure that would take WAY too long to explain. Short version: Your story is going to look like it's in two fandoms even if you aren't crossing in to actual Doctor Who territory. It's OKAY.
Movin' on...
Do NOT, during the time of voting, enter anything in:
Category
Pairings
CharatersUnder Additional Tags use ONLY the challenge specific tags that I will give you in each challenge. There will be two. One will be the 'umbrella' WIAD tag (this will let users in the future find everything ever written for any WIAD challenge) and the specific Challenge tag which will be something like "WiaD 4.01" You must use these two tags on your story during voting. After voting you can chose to leave these tags on, take them off and/or add any other tags you're fond of. :)
Work Preface:
Work Title: Give your story a title.
Summary: Do not add a summary during the voting period.Add Notes: This is where we'll tell people not to make comments. You must include exactly this text in both the beginning and end notes:
Check the box next to "beginning" and paste in this text.
This story is part of a short-duration writing contest. Please do not comment on this story, positively or negatively, until this notice is removed. If you are interested in this contest please visit http://community.livejournal.com/writerinadrawer.
Check the box next to "end" and paste in the same text.
Associations:
Fulfull an Assignment: I'm not even 100% sure everyone will see this. I have an outstanding assignment, so I have it, but if you don't see that line, it's fine. You don't want it, anyway. :) If you have it, ignore it.Post to Collections: Once again, I'll put the specific and exact Collection name in the challenge. It needs to be copy/pasted exactly as I give it to you. This is how your story gets into the contest.
Recipients(s): We don't have those.
Check NONE of the 5 check boxes that come after that. If you actually do something that requires multiple chapters, get back to me, but until MAYBE the final round, I'm not sure you'll have the words for more than one chapter.
Language should be set to English... um, yeah. duh.
Work Text: Put your story in the box. Any coding the archive allows is legal, with the exception of anything that would ADD CONTENT. For example, you may not link to or include an image. You may not hyperlink to another website or story.
Preview then Post.
You'll see some stats at the top of your newly uploaded stories. This is the last word on word count. Your story must be at or below the specified word count at the time the stories are revealed. "Word (or whatever word processor you use) gave me a different number" will not be an acceptable excuse. This puts us all on exactly the same word-counter.
Once voting is over and I have released the author's names at the challenge, you are welcome to come back into your story and edit any meta-data you'd like.
Please, please, please ask if you have questions. If your question might out you as the writer of a given story, feel free to email me at either smallwaldo or writerinadrawer at gmail. Stories that violate these rules will not be approved and the writer will be drawered... so, you know... cooperation is our friend. :)
