Welcome to the 2021 Yu-Gi-Oh! Mini Exchange for Archive of Our Own, an autumnal gift-exchange for the entire Yu-Gi-Oh! fandom.

Sign-ups will be between SEPT 1, 2021 and SEPT 22, 2021. The gift assignments will then be sent out between SEPT 23, and SEPT 30, 2021.

Completed gifts will be due by NOVEMBER 20, 2021 and all fics will be revealed on NOVEMBER 30, or sooner 2021.

The word-count minimum is 250.

Q. Will the assignment sorting be done by hand?
A. Absolutely! AO3's automatic systems can't yet catch a lot of the nuances that lead to a happy exchange.

Q. Can I draw art as a gift instead?
A. Of course! There are no official guidelines for requirements with art, but again remember, this is a gift for someone.

Q. But I don't have an AO3 Account!
A. Please email us at [email protected] and an invite will be sent back to you, or alternatively, you can go through AO3's system, here!

Q. Why is this on AO3?
A. Because the main trouble with AO3 for YGO is there aren't many people here yet, so hopefully this should encourage some new faces! Also they have a very cool function for giveaways.

Q. Which series is this for?
A. Any of the YGO series, animated or otherwise, including; Season Zero, TCG, Duel Monsters, GX, 5Ds, Zexal, Zexal II, Arc V, Vrains, DSoD, or SEVENS.

Q. Do we have to do all three assignments?
A. No, only one. You have three prompts to help you find one you'd like to write.

Q. I don't think I can complete on time. What do?
A. Feel free to either request an extension, or drop out by sending an e-mail to [email protected]

1. This event is celebrating the entirety of the YGO franchise, and is not limited to any of the individual series within it!
2. However crossovers, or fusions are certainly welcome. Please keep in mind you're making a gift, and if you are requesting a crossover/fusion, we recommend having at least one canon or au prompt.
3. We will ask for your AO3 handle on the sign-up form. If you do not have an AO3 account, but would like to participate, please contact [email protected] to request an invite, or alternatively go through the AO3 invite page.
4. It is in your own best interest to provide as much detail as possible in your requests at sign-up.
5. If you require an extension at any point, please send an email to the mods at [email protected] to let us know. Also, if you realize that you'll be unable to complete your gift assignment, again, please contact the mods as soon as possible, so they can arrange a pinch hitter.
6. Submission Requirements are a minimum of 250 words for 2021. Although this is a mini-exchange, remember this is a gift for someone!
