What is a secret Santa?
A secret Santa is a gift exchange held around Christmas time (hence the name) where participants write a fic for an anonymous recipient and receive a fic in return. Fics do not have to be Christmas themed, though they must at least be winter-themed. Fics will be revealed in batches starting on (or around, depending on how many fics there are) Dec 24. Authors will be kept anonymous until two weeks after the last fic is revealed.

How do I participate?
To participate as a writer you must fill out the sign-up form located on the side-bar (or at the top of the page if you're on mobile); if you want to participate as a pinch-hitter then you must fill out the google form that will be linked in the information section. Writers will have to submit at least one prompt that they would like to receive as a gift, though they are allowed to submit up to 3. They will then be matched with another participant and will have to write a fic for at least one of that participant's prompts. Pinch-hitters will fill in the spot of a writer in the event that one of them drops out, so that way everyone gets a fic gifted to them at the end of the exchange.

What kind of prompts should I give?
Feel free to give any kind of prompt that you wish! If you want abo, or royalty, or canon-compliant, then give prompts for those tropes! Our only caveat for the fest is that all resulting fics must be yoonmin focused, and winter-themed (though the winter thing can be as easy as just setting the fic in December) so make sure to keep that in mind when you submit prompts :)

What if there's themes/ratings that I'm not okay with reading?
Then please make sure to list them in your prompts! There are no content restrictions for this fest beyond the two listed in the previous answer, so if there's something you specifically are not okay with reading, just list them out after your prompt (make sure to specify that they are things you do NOT want to see!).
EX - DNW: mcd, non-con, etc

What if I don't like my recipient/secret santa?
If the recipient you received is someone you aren't comfortable writing for please let us know ASAP after you've been assigned to them so that way we can try to change things around for you. If there is someone you know has joined that you do NOT want to receive a fic from, please let us know before sign-ups close so we can make sure that they aren't assigned to you.

Can I write more than one of my recipient's prompts?
Of course! While we do recommend focusing on just one prompt to start with, if you happen to finish before the deadline and still have time to write another one of their prompts, you are more than welcome to go for it! (also, do keep in mind that just because you write more than one fic for the fest, does not necessarily mean you will be receiving more than one fic).

What is a check-in?
A check-in is just to make sure everyone is making progress on their fics. Each check-in will have a certain word count that must be met (with a forgiveness range of up to 100 words), and they will require responses. If you fail to respond to the check-in on time, you will be dropped from the fest and your spot will be given to a pinch-hitter.

Can I upload my fic in chapters/parts?
No, your fic must be complete by the deadline (you may submit a chaptered fic, but all of the chapters must be uploaded by the deadline).

Can I write a fic without romance(gen)?
Technically yes, but we'd imagine most prompts will ask for/involve romance in some way.

Can I write a fic involving a non-BTS member?
Yes, so long as your recipient has not specified against it. If you do choose to include non-BTS members, just remember that yoonmin must remain the main characters/ship of the story.

Do I need an AO3 account to participate?
Since the exchange takes place on AO3, yes, you will need an account to be able to participate.

1. All works must have yoonmin as the main pairing (side ships are allowed), and they must be winter-themed! (winter holiday prompts are allowed, but not required)

2. All works must be at least 1500 words.

3. All works are due by Dec 20 at 11:59pm PST

4. Please keep your prompt/s and recipient a secret until after the authors are revealed!

5. Your work may not be cross-posted to another site until after authors are revealed

6. Minors (anyone under the age of 18) are not allowed to create NSFW/Explicit content for this fest. To avoid any minors from accidentally getting any NSFW prompts, minors will only be paired with other minors.

7. We recommend that your work be edited either by yourself or a beta-reader before it's posted, though it is not required

8. Any and all content is allowed for this fest, so long as it is properly tagged. If there is content that you don't want to be receiving in the fic gifted to you, please make sure to put them in your prompts so the writer is aware (ex - DNW: mcd, non-con, etc)

9. If you can't finish your prompt/s in time, please contact us as soon as possible so that we can either grant you an extension or give your prompts to a pinch-hitter!

10. Plagiarism is not tolerated

11. Please try to follow the basic requirements of your prompt/s, though naturally creative liberties are allowed

12. If you have any questions about a prompt you received, feel free to contact us so we can reach out to your recipient for clarification

13. Please be kind in any comments you make on fics posted to the collection, as well as in your author's notes

14. Check-ins will require responses and if you fail to respond, you will be dropped from the fest and your prompts will be given to a pinch-hitter

15. All works posted to the collection must be tagged and rated properly!!
