Hunter wants to believe them, it’s true they have never lied to him unless necessary and he can’t see what kind of situation could make this necessary, so by all means their statements should ring true.
He wants to believe them as badly as he wanted to believe they meant their care, more than a year ago when they promised he didn’t have to be alone anymore.
He wants to believe them.
But he doesn’t.
Or: Hunter suspects Darius and Eber are keeping secrets from him.

Summary
Hunter somewhat misses being alone outside,, in the wilderness more, so he decides he should spend a day in the woods. Which wouldn't be an issue, if he told anyone about his plans, but he didn't, arguing that nobody would even notice him gone afzer only a few hours anyways.
Unfortunatelly, or fortunately depending on your angle, Darius very much noticed that his son wasn't hoe on time. And, with all if the traumatic events of their life having happened not-that-long-ago, he started to worry...Day 4: Free Space

“Okay so… Eberwolf- his incisors and… yeah back teeth too, they’re just a little wider than what a witches felt like. He has less canines in his mouth than most, but they seem to possess the same strength and size.”
Despite himself, Darius couldn’t help but snort, jotting down what Hunter said with a pen he materialized with a swirl of purple goo. “Back teeth? You know that the front teeth are called incisors but you don’t know what the back teeth are called?”
Eberwolf huffed amusingly as Hunter shot Darius a look, his face lighting up a bit. “Fine! It’s not like they're my notes or anything but- sure! His molars are just a bit wider than a witches', happy?”
“Very,” he said, smirking. “And what else have you found out Inspector?”

Summary
A former Captain Guard decided kidnapping the former Golden Guard was a good idea.
Unfortunately, trying to manipulate said Golden Guard showcases just how bad of an idea this was.
Because unfortunately, the former Golden Guard was Hunter, so maybe this was always doomed to failed.
