Affectionately referred to as "the bubble" or "the bubbles" as there is no official name for the world -

The Bubble is a world where one wakes up into as if in a dream. This shared dream is a place shared by many from different universes, worlds, forms of media, and other such walks of life. Though nothing done in this state will effect those who wake up from the dream, many live full and exciting lives with people they may never have been able to meet in the places they come from.

World-specific lore -

seasons in the big bubble are backwards to our own (northern hemisphere), while seasons in the smaller bubble are the same. The only exception is at the edges of the dome, half a mile from where the barrier touches at all edges, which is always summer.

"popping in" makes an audible noise.

people arrive into the bubble(s) when they wake up, "popping" into the world - and only leave in their sleep. some may be there for only one day (waking up in this new world, falling asleep and leaving once again) but many stay at least for a few weeks. It was very uncommon for people to be around for longer than a year.

people are not the only things that pop in and out at random - objects and even buildings in many cases can "pop" in and out at will. the larger the object, the louder the "pop."

After someone had been there for a solid three years the for the first time, they began to document time accurately and grew powerful. Though the world itself has been around at least for fifteen years, time had only properly been recorded as of two years ago.

it's been proven that no one wakes up into their original world with memories from the bubble, though they often leave and come back with memories from the dream world with recollection of the last time they'd been there. some wake up with no memories, but it's more often than not that they at least remember they'd been there once before.

language is universally understood by way of magic - unless someone is speaking a language different from their native tongue on purpose. (i.e. if they speak english originally, and are speaking to someone in spanish to try and throw off the magic, the others around them would hear only the spanish)
a majority of the magic does not work for written word, honorifics, or otherwise specific quirks in a language that have no real translation.
people from places that speak different languages from others will still understand each other clearly as they speak, though many are able to recognize the differences as though one is speaking in an accent.

the city in the larger bubble is separated into five sections by rivers - the west, east, north, south, and center. public transportation has been streamlined and though the city is incredibly vast, it doesn't take too long to get from one section to the other.

the larger bubble holding the modernized city and the small bubble holding the otherwise medieval side is connected at the western section, and there is a large building to regulate who goes in and out of each side.

money is not necessary. everyone who pops into the world is offered an apartment at the welcome center for up to six months, given proper food and aid, and it is not uncommon for restaurants to not charge for food. many people hold jobs anyway for sake of something to do or to make enough money for bigger luxuries - or for larger homes than the original apartment they are given.

in october of year 1, death itself came and destroyed half of the city and killed many. there are still a handful of citizens that were there to remember it.

pregnancy is not possible. due to the world's nature of popping in and out, magic seems to have put a stop to new life being created. no one has ever been reported to pop in while expecting nor have children under the age of two been recorded.

bodies of the deceased (those who have died in the bubble) pop out whether they have been buried, left in a morgue, or cremated after one week without fail. it is possible for one to die in the dream world again and to wake up with the memories of their lost life.

there are several schools in the little bubble where people may take classes to understand modern technology as everyone who enters the welcome center is given a cellphone as means to connect with the rest of the world if they so choose - and many decide to take said classes to use it and other new things.
