Summary

Set between season 6 episode 8 and the finale, but some hand-waving has happened about the timeline of when Thomas left for his new job so this could fit into the context of Xmas. Mind the tags.

Summary
Early September sees a chill begin to thread its way through the air, Jimmy hugs his tattered jacket a little closer to himself, allowing a shiver to run through him before he squares his shoulders and tries to carry himself as someone…more. He feels around in his breast pocket to fish out his smokes and lights up his last one, it’s already been burnt halfway down — he tries to ration them where he can, both to stretch his change and to stave off the hunger a little longer — when —
“Jimmy?” a familiar voice calls, full of incredulity and growing closer by the second. Panic grips his heart with a fervor he’s not felt in quite some time. “Jimmy, is that you?”
Jimmy, down on his luck since leaving Downton, is working a corner in London. Thomas comes across him entirely accidentally. Jimmy won't talk to him about it, so Thomas buys his time and Jimmy tries to insist on seeing it through.

Summary
He only barely manages to keep his composure on the way upstairs, all the way until they’re in the music room where he, very carefully, locks the doors and draws the gauze inners over the windows, letting in the light without giving anyone who happens to walk by a clear view. When he turns around, he can see Thomas already has him nailed down, eyes burning when Jimmy grabs hold of his lapels, not caring if he wrinkles them, and drags Thomas forward until Jimmy’s back hits the mantle of the fireplace.
Humming, Thomas looks down his nose at Jimmy, all superior-like, but the warm hands gliding up Jimmy’s sides and under his jacket give him away.
“Don’t tell me you’ve brought me in ‘ere just t’watch ya’admire yourself.” More than once, Thomas has walked in and caught Jimmy looking himself over and fixing his hair in the big mirror above the fireplace, or checking the lines of his livery in the long one that covers one of the wall panels off to the side, but — well, really, Thomas isn’t entirely wrong.
“Not me,” Jimmy corrects. “Us. Y’know, t’gether.”
Jimmy thinks he might like to watch himself getting railed six ways to Sunday, so he makes it happen.
