Summary
In which Mike follows Will to New York University for completely normal and emotionally healthy reasons, and then they try drinking together for the first time and Mike realizes pretty quickly that there were other latent feelings involved in his decision. Featuring truly Gen X levels of casual alcohol use, cranky hours at the Met, laundry in a haunted basement, a Psychedelic Furs concert, the gang reuniting for a party at Jonathan’s apartment, one scary incident reflecting the grittier realities of late 80s NYC, love confessions obviously, and rather a lot of hickeys. (And they were roommates!)

Will just blinked fast. Still half asleep.
“God.. You really are half-asleep” Mike let out an exhale. “Will, I need you to listen to me, okay?” He almost grabbed his hand again, but didn’t. “I’m gonna say a lot… And probably freak the fuck out. Can you… can you pay attention?”

Somewhere in the back of Mike’s fevered mind, a dancing thought screamed that this was the most incredible thing he had ever seen in his whole life. Somewhere in the front of Mike’s fevered mind, a downright panicked thought screamed that his best friend was about to catch him with a raging hard-on, illicitly watching him pleasure himself.
AKA, Mike finds gay porn at Family Video and brings it home for Will, shenanigans ensue. Expect a little humour, a little angst, a blistering attack on 'Islands in the Stream', and a VERY happy ending.

Mike has finally made it as an author. But writing about your own past can get complicated, especially when fans start to draw conclusions that point Mike in the direction of the person he's been writing about all along.
And living life is hard. Especially when you're doing it all on your own. But grief and love are a lot more similar than you might realise. They both tend to wake us up from the monotony of our lives.
OR: Mike has a horrible time, which somewhere along the way turns into a wonderful time.
