Thwacking his tail down into the rock pool, water sprays across Solomon Tozer’s face. He brings a hand up to guard himself, and as he looks away, he pulls himself over the border of the rock pool and jumps back into the safety of the ocean.
Even though his shoulder burns, the water embraces him like a parent welcoming its child back into the fold. He swims as deep as he can until he’s among the seagrass and the reeds and the coral and he can rest in the safety of the seabed, finally undisturbed by humans.A fisherman meets a siren.
