Mei Nianqing’s visits were not regular, but Jun Wu didn’t ask about it, let alone make a request. Sometimes, he didn’t say anything at all to the other man.
(Although, he had a sneaking suspicion that it had something to do with cards; maybe a visit after he won a round, given the infrequency of the visits. Or, maybe just a visit when he was tired of losing.)

When the Wuyong prince was young he was naive enough to be patient. After all, the beloved crown prince had the world cradled in his hands, and a sword dangled above his head, and love was no danger to him. He was content to nurse his tender feelings at arm’s length, thinking in distant centuries, confident that the boy who kept stealing gazes at him would be his if only he asked. Then Tonglu became hungry, and the world as he knew it ended.
