Summary
The world does not move at the same time as Kestrelpaw.
—
Heathertail and Harespring are warriors, both courting mates, and he’s heard Onestar discuss giving Heathertail an apprentice with Ashfoot.
Kestrelpaw is still an apprentice, and he still feels like one. Sometimes, Leafpool will remark how eager she was to get her name, or Littlecloud will ask if he’s seen any patients on his own, and Kestrelpaw will mumble whatever gets him out of the conversation fastest.
—
he grows up, just not in the same way.

Summary
Heatherpaw is Onestar's pride and joy. Harepaw isn't Heatherpaw.
—
One day, they are going to be adults.
It's coming up on them fast; it's coming up on Heatherpaw faster, because she is a runner, and Crowfeather's apprentice, and doing excellent.
"Onestar will come by soon," Tornear and Ashfoot promise.
"He's still my younger brother," Ashfoot adds. "You say the word, Harepaw, and I'll remind him how fast I can be."
Harepaw purrs and says nothing.

Summary
Hopkit, like most WindClan kits, loves to run.
—
All WindClan cats race.
They race from the nursery to the hunting stones, from the hunting stones to Tallrock, from Tallrock to the hunting grounds, from the hunting grounds to camp.
The life of a WindClan warrior can be neatly summarized as a series of races.
Hopkit is no exception. He races with his littermates, competing with them for the best pieces of prey. Palebird’s litter follows them, on legs still too short to run properly, but determined to try.

or, deadfoot grows up in windclan.

Summary
He loves her.
—
Sometimes, Breezepaw points to those moments. "Crowfeather could drive a rabbit nine fox-lengths away from me," he complains, "and yell at me for leaving my position to catch it."
Heatherpaw tries to be comforting, but what can she say?
"Crowfeather doesn't appreciate you," she says. "We never fail."
"Well," he says, looking at his paws, "you always lead them right to me."

Summary
Twice, Mistystar is exiled from her home, dependent on ThunderClan's mercy.
—
"That's against the code," Featherpaw said. Her voice was soft, but strong. She looked like her mother — so much so it hurt to look at her sometimes — but if she had the same confident arrogance, she hadn't shown it.
"So is being half Clan," Stormpaw said.
"Being half Clan isn't against the code," Stonefur said. His tail flicked, and Mistyfoot knew what he was thinking. What was and wasn't on the code didn't help them much, if they were here anyway.
"Tigerstar and Leopardstar are breaking the code," she said. "I wouldn't expect them to save a kit."
—
tigerstar, darktail, it's all the same: a tyrant on riverclan's land.
