To be a fandom-inclined person reading a series as long as One Piece while avoiding spoilers is hell, and a lot of our friends who came into it recently from watching the live action adaptation are about to enter that hell. Let's help them out by bookmarking fics, fanart, videos, doujinshi, and Tumblr posts with bookmarker's tags indicating how far they need to be into the series to engage with that fandom thing, so they can read, watch, and enjoy the fandom as they go. Tags follow the form "opsa: arc name", where the arc name is the arc you need to have finished before you can read the story. Click here for a table of arc names with episode/chapter/volume numbers. Additionally, the tag "opsa: la s01" covers things you can watch if you've only seen season 1 of the live action adaptation. Finally, works that only spoil up to a certain point in a long arc may have the specific tag marked. Any edge cases will generally have a note with more info.

- How can I help?
Go through your bookmarks and edit them to add "opsa: arc name" tags, where the arc name is the arc you need to have finished before you can read the story. Then, on the same screen, add the bookmark to this collection.

- I want to help, but my favorite fan content isn't on AO3...
That's fine! AO3 has the ability to create bookmarks to content hosted elsewhere. To create these, go to your bookmarks and click "Bookmark External Work" at the top right. Enter the URL to the content and fill out the form to the best of your abilities. In the "your tags" field, add the "opsa: arc name" tag with the name of the arc; in the "add to collections" field, type "opsa" and select One Piece Spoiler Avoidance. Tags follow these rules:

opsa: arc name = safe if you've read that arc
opsa: ch100 / ep100 / s01ep10 = safe if you've read manga chapter 100, episode 100, season 1 episode 10, etc.
opsa: la s01 = safe if you've watched season 1 of the live action adaptation

- If I've watched season 1 of the live action adaptation, does that mean I can read anything through "opsa: arlong park"?
Not necessarily. Though it remained true to the spirit of the series, season 1 did in fact change a lot of things. You likely wouldn't end up badly spoiled, but there's a good chance you'll end up confused. Unless you're starved for content, I'd recommend sticking with "opsa: la s01".

- Why "opsa"?
I'm bad at names and wanted to make something quick. Also, there are tons of tags that go "spoilers: something", making the autocomplete too cluttered to be useful. Finally, every time I type it a voice in my head says OPS-uh, and I giggle. It's the small joys in life.

- Why are you so strict about tags?
This collection is really meant for searching, not for browsing, and searching requires having a specific, exact tag on all the works. Start introducing typos or individual variations and it loses most of its usefulness.

- I just wrote a story and want to add it to the collection. How can I do that?
The simplest option is to add the relevant opsa tag(s) and then add it to the collection. The downside of this is that most works in the collection are bookmarks, and ao3 treats bookmarks separately from work tags for the purpose of search. The superior approach would be to create a bookmark of your work (yes, weird to bookmark your own work, but it's something you can do) with the opsa tag(s), and add that to the collection.

- I want to add a work, but there are spoilers in the tags.
Tag it with "opsa: spoilers in description" alongside the other tags.

- Can I put works that deal only with the live action adaptation?
Yes. There are more than a couple fics/etc that focus on the live action yet have anime spoilers in them, so there's a place here for works that have no anime influence at all. For those you can put "opsa: la s01", indicating that they're safe to consume if you've watched the first season of the live action adaptation.

- What does nakama/marimo/ero-cook/mugiwara mean?
The fandom has long had a habit of borrowing Japanese terms directly rather than translating them.

Nakama = comrades, essentially. It can be translated to a lot of things depending on the situation, and in One Piece is often treated with a lot of weight, implying something like a found family. Due to that flexibility, a lot of people just use the Japanese term.
Marimo = moss-head. Sanji's unfriendly nickname for Zoro. Translated directly in the live action.
Ero-cook = love-cook, or something like pervy-cook. Zoro's unfriendly nickname for Sanji. Doesn't translate well so the live action switched to Zoro calling him a waiter instead.
Mugiwara = straw hat. Luffy is often referred to as "Mugiwara no Luffy", i.e. Straw Hat Luffy.
