Comment on What the sea claims, it will protect

  1. Ah yeah well, CTF definitely shows how screwed-up Camp really is in some regards, that's for, an eye-opening scene there, so I get that. I odn't hate Annabeth but..she fucked p there, yep. The sword class one, I didn't really dive into cause there's not much I can add there, Percy is already better with swords since Poseiodn gave him some lessons and like, he knows what he's doing. Plus, Percy is a bit of a cryptid as it is already, so while he still does the get-Luke's-weapon-out-of-hand thing, it doesn't have the seem "huh?" effect, at least not on the same level. And yes Percy fairly quickly goes over the whole "you're a demigod, gods exist" etc. stuff, which is why I dragged this out here a little and he already has a solid amount of background knowledge here. Still its a lot to process.
The claiming...well, who said that CTF will lead to the claiming? Given that in this one, claiming Percy will be so much more risky for Poseidon, he might not do it, plus Percy can handle himself better so there's this, too. Of course, thats not a definitive no...there are always outside factors to be considered, heh. I iwll try to make it good tho, obviously!

Glad yo liked his POV. Luke is an immensely complex character to play with or, well, he could ahve been but Rick decided to make it easy for himself. He does have his daddy issues and all that, but aside form that, he starts out in a fairly good place as far as motivations go. As we go forward tho...yeah. And Luke doesn't need to be stupid, it is more interesting when he isn't actually. I was not the biggest fan of him being turned into basically a generic follower villain kind of type, so I'm doing it a little differently. More like the TV show Luke. Obviously, I will not ell you here an dnow where Luke is heading, and whether or not he will get a "redemption" arc. Thats up for much later. I will say tho, that I plan to make him less one-dimensional than canon and...go with that. MAke of that what you wish.

Don't worry, I very much get the ambivalence when it comes to Luke's characte.r He's a ocmplicated being. I would say, he stopped being a total victim/mislead perosn when he actively tries to kill Percy for...no real reason. From there on, he hides behind his so-calle dmotivations to help demigods but does nothing to actually further these. Its just lashing out on everyone and not bother what will be destroyed in the wake which is not really what he could/should have bee nIMO. RIkc makes it very easy for himself when it comes to who is "good" and "bad" in this war. Percy is not loyal to Olympus or the gods, the only reason he's on their side is that the other side is literally so obviously bad and evil its not even worth considering. Thats not what i'll be oding here. Luke made his decisions and should have been acountable for these. The last-minute sacrifice comes out of nowhere and doesn't play well, and it is by far not enough to redeem him to th epoint where he deserves Elysium. Yo if you bring Luke back after all that guy better brin ghis A-game for a potnetial redemption cause I don't see how that would be possible. And yeah Annabeht is kidna nuts about that, her problem is she desperately wants to cling to her childhood memories/impression of Luke unwilling to accept thats no longer the man he is now. So yeah, hating Luke is totaly fair.
