  1. Platonic AU of the Cruel AU, ft. a Bigger Age-gap

For this idea, wXw did its own version of Tough Enough, which was basically trainees going through Walter's regular wrestling school, but the winner earned a year-long apprenticeship/membership in Ringkampf. Junior won, largely by virtue of his respect and worth ethic. He was the baby of the trainees, barely 18, which earned him points because that made him more malleable. Walter is already around 28 or even 30. He initially only sees Junior as an apprentice, but he grows to see Junior as friend/little brother, though not an equal. In Walter's mind, it's his sworn duty to protect Junior and /raise him right./

Junior's rules are pretty much the same as the original Cruel AU. There might be some leniency about his uniform when he's not at a show or training, but it would have to be earned and there would still be rules. Screen time would be similar. For Junior, it's a privilege not a right.

Junior is excited and honored to have this opportunity. The school trained three days a week and there was some extra ring time available, but that's it. He is grateful for the opportunity, but he is still a teenager. He's still petulant sometimes. Walter responds with marked heavy-handedbess. He didn't tolerate that from anyone let alone his own apprentice. It creates this dynamic where Junior feels valued and wanted, but only if he behaves, and where Walter feels Junior is a valuable member of Ring Kampf and a friend Walter wants to keep around, but only if he behaves. Because of that, we see Junior willingly carve out much of his personality to better suit what Walter wants.

In other words, Junior won an identity crisis, self-worth issues, and a need to please, but he would still consider everything worth it.
