This is such a deliciously painful setup - Edwin understanding that Charles' words on the cliff were a reflection of his trauma and not meant to hurt, but still finding a way to take them to heart and use them against himself, hearing the honesty in them and taking the implication that Edwin's negative feelings are a problem as equally honest. The way he takes it for granted that he needs Charles and Charles only wants him... heartbreaking, incredible, I love it
