      He is training demigods, it’s just that he isn’t close to to this version of Percy, so Percy just sees him as a more distant instructor instead of the relationship he has in canon.

        Was their relationship close in canon?
        The bits I can confidently recall have him being "helpful" in the same way that Dumbledore was "helpful" to Harry, poorly and infrequent.
