Comment on Blue Fields

  1. That was so intense. I was so on edge, and like, it made me super emotional, to see what would happen next. I really wondered if they're resort to cannibalism.
Spock's parts were my favorite; calling Jim t'hy'la was so tragic, because Spock knew he found Jim but also was pretty sure they wouldn't make it. The entirety of Spock's characterization - starving himself to save his family (and the fact he didn't say their names until he talked with his father), INVOKING POLITICAL IMMUNITY HOLY SHIT I was like YEAH FUCK YEAH SPOCK YOU'RE THE BEST oh gosh and just being perfect. The part where later Jim asks the vulcans what it means was... ugh. So painful, but in a good way.
But the whole communication part was so sad. Jim was calling and desperate, and people just... didn't understand the gravity of the situation. If a child is on the emergency line, you shouldn't wave them off - you should go to full alert. When Spock's dad was in a meeting I was so stressed they'd hang up on them.
And later, Sarek, bless him. I kind of figured that by what Spock said later Sarek just shut him in in a super-over-protective manner because he was unaware of what was happening to his only child. It's kind of sad, because he must've known Jim was alive and still kept it from Spock.
Later when Jim watches the show about the starvation it was also very intense, seeing everyone going back to their normal life, it was a beautifully structured scene.

    Very good story, thank you!
