Ooh, I like this! I like the way it feels like a glimpse into a much bigger world. The 'vastri' is a great example: you can tell from context that it's a distance, you can draw some other conclusions from the second time it appears, you know what you need to know for the moment but you're also aware of the enormous knowledge gaps you're flailing around in.
