Comment on The Weight of Our Lost Bones

  1. s3 is a big enormous mess from start to finish. I know it's cause of the writers strike and there's little that anyone could have done, but still. Zack's PTSD is a curious case that no one actually seems to want to tackle. (god, I'd give my left arm for a s3 zack focused rewrite focusing on his ptsd someone please I'd honestly love you forever.) The Bones writers have a tremendous lack of conviction to see any storyline through; see cam dying in 2x12, the entire gormogon arc, angela and hodgins break up, zack being not actually guilty of murder and the goddawful way booth and brennan got together and the will they won't they there. argh.

You are right that it is all rooted in Reid. For all of Zack's confidence, he has always been overly reliant on those around him for validation, and with his world narrowed down to one person (even though he does, of course, talk to others) that gets a lot more intense. Spencer - Reid is mostly just very confused. I can't say much, later chapters are going to go into this in more detail.
