  1. -> am I missing obvious answers?

Reading the novel “Black Light” would actually put a lot of your questions to rest.

    Good chapter none the less.

As for your note in chapter 1. The game was split in half, and we don’t know when the third installment will come out. Nothing has been said by SE or Eidos. The only rumors we’ve been getting are from half baked reports that have no confirmed sources. Take it with a grain of salt. If the franchise was so dead their SMS sites wouldn’t be up to date or trying to push out the new Jensen statue.

    1. Yeah, you're right, I poked back through Black Light and apparently I missed that Juggernaut specifically wanted to investigate Miller... So of course they'd have arranged to get him over to Prague. I still think Manderly's involvement should have thrown up at least a tiny red flag there, though.
Well, I live in hope that they'll put the next one out, and your take on the information is encouraging!

      1. It’s not just Miller that answers one of the questions.

Manderly is in charge of the TF29 divisions, so I don’t see why a red flag would be there. Even if it did the Juggernaut would already know this. Since supposedly you know who, the new guy to the Illuminati, is also the leader of the collective he’d already have been aware of all these red flags. Except everything manderly was secretly doing with Marchenko. Pretty sure if Mr. R did he would have already told Adam. The orchid message left in Rucker’s apartment like area had the initials of “JM”, and I can definitely see why Adam and the others could believe that Miller was behind it. Since technically we’re thinking as “Adam” a lot of people would assume Miller and not Manderly. Either way the whole thing is an obvious ruse to the player.

Just looking at Miller’s MO and body language to me be doesnt give off the impression that he would have done anything. Some things I think Eidos made very subtle was actually too subtle. I didn’t even catch the fact that Miller had a partner of the same gender till it was pointed out in a discussion post a long time ago. Same with ShadowChild.

I live to serve, haha. It’s not like The Fall and Thief that’s literally been swept under the rug with zero updates on these titles.

        1. See, for me personally, Manderly being in charge is exactly what makes it strange. The director of several interpol branches/teams wouldn't usually be working on personnel, I would think. There are underlings for things like hiring and transfers; he shouldn't have time for it.
Similarly, I figured lower level members of Juggernaut would have arranged for the transfer and then would have find his interference odd. But ah, yeah. Somehow I'd forgotten to work in that theory??? If Janus is Illuminati, he could and would sweep a lot under the rug.
So Manderly's position was my main confusion here for Juggernaut suspecting something, not the Orchid or anything else. But duh, Janus. :/

Ah well. Thanks for helping me come to some reasonable explanation.

I saw Miller's divorce papers, but somehow totally missed ShadowChild. Went off immediately to poke through her emails like a creep.
(And I am a total chicken and spook easily, so I abandoned Thief when I got to that asylum. And have now been reminded that it's on my shelf waiting for me to finish it...though no rush there, I suppose, if it's been dropped)

          1. Is it really that surprising? he is/was in charge of UNATCO then became a small boss to MJ12. He did also assign Delara to TF29 as a psychiatrist to babysit Adam. Other than Chikane we don't know how many Illuminati spies are out there working in plain sight. Since he's Illuminati agent he also has to be discrete. As for Janus remember Rand went to New York during the time it was supposed to be "fixed". so really whatever he did there, besides helping Adam on the side, is something we shall see! Besides an alibi to say why he isn't Janus if this foreshadowing ever comes forward. There is also Madam Photographe that seems to be following Vega and Jensen due to DuClare's instructions to trail Vega, so she is obviously an Illuminati agent. If you take notice in some videos and screenshots she is off to the side watching those two. It's funny Alex tells Adam to make sure he wasn't followed, but the whole time she was.

No problem! I love talking abut the theories!

Hey! It's what Jensen does! He's Mr. Nosey! (or we don't have to, but then he wouldn't be Mr. Nosey!)

(Haha, I haven't even played the game. I'll take your word for it. You have the rest of your life to play!)

            1. It's surprising for me at least, just because of how I think of directors, I think. Like, I work for my county, and there's a director overlooking all the sections in the department. I've only met him once. His job, as it was explained to me, is mostly coordinating with other counties to help develop their programs and working on policies and shit like that: high level overseeing. His door is technically open for us to talk to him, but he isn't really involved in the day to day decisions. And this is a pretty small department--nothing like what Manderly would be managing.

Delara's appointment I could almost accept, as a civilian stepping into a very classified/dangerous area. That sort of situation would need a lot of background checks/security clearances and *might* need the ok from someone as high up as Manderly, maybe? And it's clear they know each other, but even if he hadn't been highlighted as suspicious at that point, I still would have thought it a tiny bit odd, for the above reasons. I had to do federal background checks and get security clearances for my job (and even slightly similar in that I'm surrounded by a lot of LEOs while I myself am not one), and I still only interacted with midlevel supervisors during the whole process.

Long rant is long. And I really am probably thinking about it too much. The interpol of Deus Ex is pretty different from the real life one, so the rules and roles could be different too, but this is the thought process I approached it from, so I was frowning at the game a lot.

Ah, I really wanted something to come of all that stuff with Madam Photographe (and yeah, lol, good job not bringing a tail along with you, Alex). I mean, we got to find Orlov, but I wanted to go find her too. Or at least torch that storage container full of pictures.

Yeah, me too, the theories are half the fun. (Kind of hoping that clone theory isn't true, though...)

Oh, oops, figured since you mentioned it that it was a game you'd played. Never mind XD

              1. Well I put this way: Different universe with different guidelines, I think, come into play here. That, and I don't think Eidos wanted to go into that much detail. It's also like this in all the Deus Ex games. Then we have more holes that need filling. Not that I wouldn't have minded. It would be cool to see. I get it though, because I work for the state, and the university I work at has the President, and she overseas the school, like Miller overseas the Prague division, but then you have the higher ups like the Board of Education/Regents, and the governor that issues out the funds to fund new operations and buildings. We recently just received a 2 M fund for a new Department of Health Professions. It was kind of cool. Governor Deal came down to our area in Georgia, and issued out the check. Delara being the school psychiatrist, Chikane being the bus driver, and Photographe being the creepy teacher guy from Life is Strange that puts people in white rooms to take photos. I am sure I am missing out lots of "this is the step by step how to make a bill become a law" getup, haha. As for high security I know your pain. Used to work for the military as a civilian. Had to go through so many clearances to work on base.

In the end of MD you see Delara and Debeers talking about Adam's state of mind (which explains a criminal past, but that's a whole other topic for discussion). Something Manderly nor Page new about. If you go into Delara's office, and sit there long enough when she's talking on the phone you can hear her talking about Adam. Saying that she's not his babysitter. Who is she talking to? My guess is Debeers. Then, in theory, why she got the job is probably because she's Bob's wife. Why did Chikane get the job? If you read his e-mails you see that he has a sick brother, so in order to pay for his meds Manderly uses him to do Illuminati business. How you think Marchenko was aware of Adam's presence in the mountains? He contacted him, and your cover is blown if you try to contact Miller. Miller gets in contact with the pilot, and boom, you lose your foxiest of the hounds trophy. What is photographe's story? No idea. So, really, if you think about it their clearances of people are mostly bribes and "Hey, I know this person!" Let's face it. The Illuminati are in charge of everything! Interpol is the one who funded TF29, and its stationed in France. It is also believed, as the game puts out there, that Illuminati controls Interpol. They even carry out MJ12. Now, who funded interpol to create TF29 to counter Aug terrorists? The UN! In the Deus Ex 1 UNATCO (which is part of the UN) and Interpol team up to take out the Knight's Templars. Boom. That's why Manderly is easily in charge of it all, and all the countries in the UN are on board with this. Let's face it, there is no place safe!!! Not even the oblivious directors of each TF division, haha.

Delara in general is a very interesting character. She used DuClare's NSN device to contact Debeer's about Adam's stability. So, is DuClare in on the thing? How come the others don't know about it? Something tells me will find out when Adam makes a trip to America. We'll also probably get the fall of mankind due to Gray Death and rather if Janus gets killed by Adam unintentionally or not. What happens to Delara from here? We shall see!

Eh, it's whatever. I know "Aeratus" put that clone theory link together. I personally seen many add-up clone theories and fake corpse theories like in HR. Watch Eidos blow our minds, and it's none of those, and they just wanted to troll. I personally don't think Adam is a clone, but the body in the versalife vault is a fake corpse. This is taken from a user called "Terr_" on Reddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/Deusex/comments/75pxmc/ok_so_they_actually_found_jensons_duplicate_body/do81dxm/. He makes a very good point. Sorry, I can't past it as I am running out of characters, and don't want to spam you, haha. This is my favorite theory by far. Then you got this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Deusex/comments/510syk/spoilers_theory_about_jensen/d78vpmc/ about Jenna Thorne.

                1. Yeah, we'll have to go with different universe guildlines, for a whole lot of things. I've only played DX:MD and Human Revolution, none of the earlier ones. I suppose I should watch a Lets Play or read a synopsis at some point...

'Photographe being the creepy teacher guy from Life is Strange that puts people in white rooms to take photos' lol at that XD

Ooh, what did you do on the base, if I may ask?

Wait, Delara is Bob's wife? Did I miss that information? Or is that a theory?
I did kind of wonder why Juggernaut sent Adam after Miller in particular if pretty much the whole organization is corrupted. Like, what are they planning to do now that they know he's innocent? Why did it matter in the first place? But maybe this is also something I might learn more about in the older games.

Thanks for the links! I enjoyed reading them, and the fake corpse theory actually does make more sense. I feel like that fits better than random cloning tech.

                  1. You should totally! Then you can join our meme journey!

                    I couldn’t help myself, haha

It’s up in the air. He is married to a behavioral pschyologist that we know. The chances of it being Delara is very high. We shall see! If it’s not then that theory can go out the door. The illumnati pretty much needed a scapegoat for this whole diversion. They pretty much used Miller to have his team concentrate on Dubai, and thought they could set up ARC as the people who committed the train station bombing. Manderly never expected for Mr. Nosey to get heavily involved in the train station. Older games might not help much since Jensen and Miller are not mentioned there as far as I know. They do lead to more insight about the illumnati, MJ12, UNATCO, Daedalus, Helios, Templar, others. I need to play Invisible War myself.

It does! Also, I bet you’re happy now that the CEO of SE officially came out and said the game wasn’t canceled. Now you may Rest In Peace! Nothing to worry about!
