Even Ned is only human. Also I believe that contrary to canon, he doesn't have the same calmness at the whole secret keeping thing yet. Of course he held the secret about Jon and Arthur but then again neither of them were in Winterfell or even in Westeros. It's easy to keep something secret and not get into danger of blabbing something out when they are so far away that your thoughts don't even stray there. And of course wine. I like the locket idea, though I think it's still a bit early on this visit. A) Ned doesn't know about the locket for one and B) Jon doesn't yet know about Lyanna. Thank you for your comment!
