Comment on Harry Potter and the Summer of the Bundling Charm

  1. The premise of this story is a bit creepy. Same goes for Molly Weasley's motives for using this "Bundling Charm" that is also a little bit creepy.

    1. Well, thank you for your opinion. I'm kind of disappointed, cos to be honest I think I've written things that were considerably creepier than this. They never even got naked together.

Bundling, using physical means (such as boards placed between the couple) to prevent sexual intercourse rather than charms, used to be a pretty common custom in some places in the real world. Part of the idea here is that the Wizarding World really does have different attitudes to the Muggle World.

ETA: Shouldn't've got so snarky in this, so I toned it down a bit. Sorry for replying when I was in a bad humour.

      1. Thanks for editing your comment. I'm sorry my review touched a nerve but it wasn't meant to offend. I don't write slash of any sort, but I do write and I wouldn't snark at someone just because I didn't like the kind of story they wrote. I probably just wouldn't read it in that case. I have enjoyed most of the stuff you wrote so don't take it too hard

I somewhat agree that the bundling charm, in general, is a bit creepy by modern standards.
But then, arranged marriages or even parents setting up meetings for potential partners is pushing the boundaries of modern sensibilities.

This is just an older custom, that would fit in the wizarding world (due to it being old-fashioned) that comes off creepy to people who wouldn't know about it.
I found it unsettling entirely due to Molly trying to pair Hermione with Ron, due to the whole Ron being Ron thing.

Other than that brief moment of having an unsettled stomach, I find it cute, reminding me of when I built a nest of blankets and fell asleep with a friend back when I was eight or nine.
One of my fondest memories from my childhood, honestly.
