I can't help but feel sad over Maedhros and Maglor getting sidelined from this moment of victory. Maybe it was their Doom to get sidelined, and maybe it was a fair consequence of the evil that the Feanorians had inflicted, but if they had been there to witness the capture of Morgoth, their upcoming tragedy need not have happened. (At least not in the way it did.) I bet that the Oath would have made them so obnoxious, the collective wisdom of Beleriand would have been forced to give them & their problems a proper attention.
Which leads me to my next point: I absolutely hate that in the aftermath of the battle, the Feanorians are treated by almost everyone as complete pariahs. I've had the misfortune to endure bullying through social isolation ,so I feel really badly about anyone else being subjected to a similar experience. Elrond is a mensch for looking after the Feanorian ex-thralls' welfare, & props to Celebrimbor for attempting to reconnect with the family he estranged himself from. I wonder what's keeping Elros away. Had I been one of those Feanorian ex-thralls, the experience would definitely turn me off from taking the one-way ticket to Tol Eressea, and I would rather take my chances in Second Age Lindon & then Eregion.
Fëanor and Maedhros might not be entirely reliable about the intentions of the Hosts of Valinor just here - they haven't spoken to the Vanyar or the Noldor, Maedhros is making assumptions, and he's really not in the best state of mind for doing so fairly. Gil-galad did send Elrond with help, and the Noldor host at least is deep in dealing with the thralls stolen from the House of Finarfin and House of Fingolfin: they probably just got back what was left of the people of Hithlum, Dorthonion, plus anyone who didn't manage to get out of Gondolin, maybe prisoners from Nargothrond if they didn't all die and probably Sindar from Doriath, too.
On the other hand, clearly Eonwe is not particularly concerned for the Fëanorians and doesn't really understand what the issue is, or he wouldn't have replied quite as he did to their letter asking for the Silmaril back, or would not have been taken by surprise by their attack.
Elros is off arguing with Eonwe, because Eonwe has been given instructions to bring all the Elves home and leave all the Men in middle-earth and Elros is now explaining for the fifteenth time that Middle-earth is in ruins, and he's not going to just sail off and leave all his heroic Edain behind in the rubble.
