this was simply stunning. and for me, it was obviously terribly upsetting to lose Galadriel and Dwalin but to see the grief in the ones left behind was heart-shredding. that last bit with Thorin weeping over Dwalin...oh, man - I'm not crying, it's just allergies - I swear! ahhhhh...that was incredibly moving.
and then in the center of it all is Bilbo, trying to comfort everyone and refraining from saying "we don't even have ROPE, y'all! We are double-triple FUCKED." no, he just hugs you and you know everything will be all right.
the chapters just get better and better. really spectacular.

This one was really hard to write, obviously! Bilbo feeling terrible for everyone and also being pragmatically worried kind of got me through a lot of the ending, if I'd been in Thorin's POV I don't think I could have done it. Thank you for getting through it with me, I've been dreading this chapter quite a bit!
