I'm definitely avoiding that story then, for now. Knowing you, I'll end up calling a waaaahmboolants, and I've done enough sniffling for the week.
-Are Hit Wizards a thing in the books? I can't remember, but it sounds canon! Yes, as far as I can recall they are, but they're only mentioned in passing, like, once. In PoA, Fudge says something about when Sirius was arrested and Peter "killt", that he was stupid to go after Sirius because they'd need 20 Hit Wizards to even attempt to take him down. It's skipped over by the fandom in general because it's not even a footnore, but I thought, hey, that's pretty cool that Sirius can duel 20 dudes at the same time and they still might not win. Proof he's THE shit, hence why I keep throwing him into situations that will bring that about eventually. Poor kid, srsly.
I assume they're kind of Ministry duellists whom they toss at the Death Eaters, kind of like the Highlanders in, was it Gallipolli? Or like a suicidal blunt-force magical strike squadron? In my little world, at least. Anyone trying to do that job would have to be at least a little cray, so. That's one mental health assessment Sirius would definitely pass. Not so sure about James, though. I'm having them disbanded after Sirius' perceived treason, because Fudge would -- rightly -- be afraid of them. Some would be reabsorbed into the ranks of Aurors, but most would be dismissed with a vote of no confidence, and that's why there's no mention of it in Harry's years.
Well, that was quite the little made-up history lesson.
- Re: Reg. It's going to be completely obvious and hopefully extremely unexpected. Haha, so I'll probably miss it unless it's slapping me in the face. I'll try to be fully awake before I tackle it. I'll play find Reg like others play find Wally.
-On the WW's insanity clause, or lack thereof: I've wondered about that a lot. I mean, they are pretty awful when it comes to any kind of humane treatment of the mentally unstable (see HP, vols I-VII), never mind providing support, or even laws to curb mistreatment and abuse. The worst mass-murderer is Harry's godfather, and they accept it, just like that? I can't but laugh at it now, but all your examples are sound.
Fair enough, though it is a story that at least attempts to explore how one gets over terrible things, rather than just wallowing in the terrible things themselves (at the same time, I am so tempted right now to tag it as Sirius/Dementor - I should probably have my fanfic licence removed.)
Oh, I do remember the Hit Wizards now! Granted, it might have been a sign of the group paranoia gripping the ministry (I mean, twenty specially trained no-nonsense wizards vs. one Sirius Black who is so utterly defeated he can do nothing but laugh?) - at the same time, it's clear that Sirius is one very capable individual.
Haha, so I'll probably miss it unless it's slapping me in the face. I'll try to be fully awake before I tackle it. I'll play find Reg like others play find Wally.
Oh, no no no, it isn't going to be subtle! Just hopefully playing out in a completely different way than expected, even given the general theme of this fic.
I am so tempted right now to tag it as Sirius/Dementor - I should probably have my fanfic licence removed. You DO realise I have a very graphic imagination, right? ... and yes, you probably should. But hey, it's only one year in Azkaban if you're unregistered! That, Sirius tells me, goes by before you even realise where you are.
You DO realise I have a very graphic imagination, right?
After reading Runaway, I sort of gathered XD. That's why I wrote it! My aim is, as always, to disturb. Speaking of which, did you ever get around to reading the second chapter? No worries if you're just being polite about it tho ^^
I didddd! And I commented! And... and it's not there, so not sure what happened. I had a whole diatribe about Remus' belief system, and killing!Werewolf omg, and there was a bit about silent unforgivables and if polyjuice addiction could even be a thing, with the whole finding Regulus polyjuice trip on the side, annnnnnd topped up by a lengthy comparison of both our Sirius(es? Sirii?) and their mindsets and where I thought they diverged, where they come together, and I was honestly wondering why you didn't comment back. Ought to have checked, but I was caught up with Sirius breaking down very dramatically and debating how much to cut from said breakdown. I am, however, surprised at how well I remember the damn thing, which isn't even up.
As for politeness, I'll never intentionally be rude, but I honestly can't see how not saying anything would help us in any way. Some things we write work, some don't, and unless we get honest feedback from readers, how on earth will we know? I mean, if you hadn't told me some things were repetitive, I wouldn't have noticed at all, because I tend to stick with an idea and sometimes forget I already wrote it. That helped me loads, and I'm grateful for it. Believe me when I say I'll tell you when I find something that jolts me in any way!
And yes, you're disturbing me with the Sirius/Dementor pairing ye gods of Quidditch and the holy snitch. I shall only read that fic when I'm in the mood for suffering!DND. But right now I'm laughing too hard at James' attempts to keep Sirius from blurting out Remus' condition as a werewolf, so it will have to wait.
Oh, I was wondering what happened! I would have loved to see that diatribe. Remus's belief system is not particularly well thought out by me, he just seemed to be using a lot of religious exclamations in his dialogue. Plus, I seem as trying to make some sense of his suffering (not all the time, because I believe he's arranged himself with his bad luck - but sometimes it's hard. Like when he's about to eat someone and can't do shit about it.)
I feel much the same about receiving honest feedback as you - though obviously some don't, and that's just as valid! It is, after all, a hobby, and everyone's in it for the fun.
And yes, you're disturbing me with the Sirius/Dementor pairing ye gods of Quidditch and the holy snitch.
Okay, I am starting to feel I am misrepresenting that story haha.
