Comment on Labyrinths of the Heart

  1. !!!! Thank you! I’m so glad you liked it!!! Hehe, I’m having a lot of fun with these characters— each of them is slowly changing throughout the journey in little ways, and It’s so fun to explore!!

And yes, you’re exactly right!! Varian is punishing himself. He’s forcing himself to stay quiet when he’s in pain, to stay away from their campfire no matter how cold it is, and even the arrow— the group doesn’t know he has it! It’s a message for himself and himself alone. He blames himself, he’s tired of being angry, and worst of all, some tiny part of him just wants to be forgiven, to be their friend again, to go back when things were simple and he had fun and could smile easily. He misses being their friend. And Varian knows that he has these feelings, and he hates it— and so, yes, in a way, he is definitely punishing himself for that. I’m so glad to see your thoughts on this!!
