  1. I'm so glad you had such fun with this chapter. Zuko's character and situation tends to drift towards broodiness, so it's sometimes a struggle to get him into comedy mode, but thankfully Mai and undercover operations are both good at pushing him out of his elements.

    I've actually based a lot of the character dynamics in this story on Blutara (BlueSpirit/Katara) fanfic, but by reversing things. So where Katara starts to fall for the mysterious Blue Spirit without realizing that he's her enemy, Mai stays true to Zuko and asks the weird Blue Spirit guy who looks at her too much if they can just be friends. Stuff like that. It's fun to turn such things on their head, and see how Mai's character and role messes with the formula.

    However, I do have to credit real corporate 'communication seminars' on informing Zuko's non-flirting. There's nothing like corporate-speak for sounding awkward. XD
