  1. Wow, Harry's morals die early on. What happened to him?

    1. Desperate times makes strange bedfellows.

I tried to show the hopelessness of his situation - he's not a parselmouth, he can't go into the Chamber itself (it's protected anyway from break-ins), there is no proof that Tom has anything to do with it, there's no proof of what the creature is, and even if Tom is a parselmouth (which is unconfirmed) there is no reason to belief that's relevant.

This is a world that happily deny Voldemort's return for a year. While that hasn't happened here, Harry's experienced a year-long campaign to promote Sirius' innocence - he knows that he can't out-manipulate Riddle, even telling Dumbledore gets him nowhere (not that he would, he is literally just Harry's headmaster who had something to do with his parent's death). Harry is facing a closed school and being condemned to his unpleasant muggle relatives. Had their framing of the spider involved blaming someone else or further deaths, no doubt Harry's morals would have got involved.

      Thanks for reading!
