  1. Doesn't it feel great putting this up? I hope you start to feel more relaxed with exams over and the holidays around the corner :)

I really like the added section about Thor contemplating his duties as king. He's definitely learned during his reign just how frustrating it can be, and part of the reason he abdicated in Thor 2 was because he didn't want to have to make tough choices like these ("The safety of Midgard or my brother's life?"). If Loki ever returns to Asgard, I bet he could be of big help to Thor, but who knows if/when that will be?

It's pretty sad when Thor thinks he has no one else to help him with this. The only others of Asgard who really care about Loki are busy being diplomats or holding Asgard together. Too bad Thor doesn't have anyone he trusts but isn't important enough to be needed elsewhere.

I also wonder if there's any chance SHIELD will discover /other/ means of curing the compromised people besides a whack to the head. Maybe some kind of drug-infused dart gun would have a similar effect?

    1. It really does feel great to put this up! I thought I wouldn't get around to it until today (after my last exam) but my brain decided to start working again, which was nice of it. I think I am feeling more relaxed, or at least happy that I can take a nap or two without worrying about studying or homework :)

I'm glad you like that section, since I think that was one of my better ideas for this whole chapter, and much improved on what I had originally rushed out. I also thought it tied very well to Thor 2's end, even if I agree with some of the meta that Thor leaving Asgard solely in the hands of his "father" who he has seen make some not-so-great-decisions isn't all that responsible of him; though I also agree with the some of the meta that Thor deserves a break. If only the Thor here could catch a break :( Personally, I think the best conditions for Thor to become king would be similar to the botched coronation in the first movie, but after Thor's trip to Midgard to figure how not to be a jerk; with Loki there as his adviser and parents to support him/ease him in to the job, everything would have been just about perfect for Asgard and that whole messed-up royal family *sniff* ("We could've had it aaaaall" plays in the distance). And if Loki ever returned to Asgard (and who knows if/when that will happen :) ), I agree that Loki would greatly help in that area.

The issue of who-can-be-trusted-to-help-Loki still hasn't gone away, and Thor's still (if not more) worried about it than before. It would be much better if he had someone to talk to about it, of course, or someone to guide him, but unfortunately those options aren't close at hand :\

There probably are others ways to cure people of the brain-washing, though considering the staff is from space and works pretty much through magic, I don't think SHIELD would be the one figuring it out. Others doing it, however, could be a possibility :)
